Armadio VOI | Poliform
Recycling a closet of the past to arrive in a storage of the present. Armadio VOI was perceived during a reinterpretation of the Armadio IO from Paolo Piva, a luxuriant piece that enclosed the traditional woodmaking, in a way that it was respectful yet updating the concept in order to make it less monolithical and more fluid in space. Armadio VOI is a cube that can evolve/ expand in space, which consists of 3 basic shapes and 14 secondary modules. This project evolved through a series of experimentations regarding minimalism vs maximalism, soft vs hard, natural vs technical. These dualities, conbined with the history of Armadio IO and its artisan finishings led to a storage system that is based in the past yet is looking forward. Recycling was evident throughout this process both in a materic and a conceptual manner. The panneling used is recycled wood covered with oak veneer while the recycle of the idea behind Piva’s Armadio IO was constant and fruitful.
